Hackberry

$10.00
Out of Stock

1 and 2 yr old seedling trees, 14+ inches

Celtis occidentalis

We were inspired to grow this tree by Akiva at Twisted Tree Farm, who holds the Hackberry in very high regard. Great for wildlife and used extensively by Native Americans, the berries are high in sugar, fat, protein, and carbohydrates. Seed for our Hackberry seedlings comes from a beautiful local mother tree (see pictures). The ripe berries can remain on the tree for a very long time, providing a generous harvest window. They taste delicious and have been compared to dates and peanut M&Ms!
