Diospyros virginiana

American persimmon is a small to medium-sized tree adaptable to many environmental and site conditions with small fruits that ripen in late fall and are reportedly delicious after bletting! This species is dioecious, meaning there are males and females, so you need a few trees to produce fruit. Females produce the fruit. Tree sex can be identified when the seedlings are mature enough to make flowers. Hardy to Zone 5, maybe 4.
